Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ekteb (“Ekteb”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you use the Ekteb mobile app for iOS and Android (the “App”). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what the App needs to work:

Account information: your name, your email address and, where applicable, the organisation you belong to. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
Content you provide: the projects, texts, subtitles, files and media you create, upload or save in the App.
Notification data: if you allow notifications, a push-notification token for your device and its platform (iOS or Android), so we can tell you when your content is ready. The token is removed when you sign out.

The App does not collect your precise location or your contacts, does not track you for advertising, and accesses files on your device only when you choose to upload them.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

provide, operate and maintain the App and your account;
process the content you submit, for example to transcribe, translate, subtitle or summarise it;
send you notifications about your content, if you allow them;
keep the App and its users secure and prevent misuse;
answer your messages and requests.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles from it.

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties. To deliver notifications, the App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (provided by Google) and Apple’s push notification service; they receive only your device’s notification token and the text of the notification, not your account information or your content.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it or a competent authority issues a valid order.

4. Data retention

We keep account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content within 30 days, including from backups. Notification tokens are deleted when you sign out of the App.

5. Data security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS, and access to it is limited to the staff who need it to run the service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to deal with any incident promptly.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy of it, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@ekteb.ai from the email address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

7. Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time by sending a deletion request to privacy@ekteb.ai from the email address on your account.

Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data and content as described under “Data retention”. It cannot be undone.

8. Children

The App is a professional tool intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed, and we will tell you in the App before any material change takes effect.
